3 Ways to Ensure You’re Attracting Your Ideal Customer to Your Booth

Aug 29, 2024

Do you know your product is worthy of being a top seller at markets but seem to be lacking customer interest the day of?

Oftentimes creatives get caught up in the design of their products and forget about the selling portion when it comes to market season. Let’s dive into my top 3 ways to attract your ideal customer to your booth.

*Hint* these tips will even work for the biggest of introverts! 😊

Play the Part

Your appearance plays a huge role in attracting your ideal customer. It may seem subtle, but it subconsciously draws attention to your booth.

There are three overall “looks” to consider:

  1. Branded Apparel: Clothing with your logo or business name.
  2. Dream Outfit: Invest in and wear clothing, accessories and/or footwear your ideal customer would admire.
  3. Trade Uniform: Clothing you’d wear to create your products. For example, if you sell food products, you could wear an apron. If you do woodworking or metalwork, you could wear overalls/bibs and nice work boots. This type of outfit helps portray that you’re an expert in your craft.

Paint the Picture

You only have mere seconds to grab your customer’s attention (on average and at best). You don’t want to miss the opportunity for a sale because you didn’t put a little thought and effort into how your booth and products are set up.

Take a few minutes to dream up a display that can showcase your products in use or frame your products in a way that can put your customer into the right mindset to make a purchase from you.

It’s in the Details

While your appearance and product displays will help draw your customers in, the details will keep them there longer, leading to more potential sales.

Fun Fact: The more time a customer spends in your booth, the higher the chances they make a purchase.

The details don’t need to cost you more money, but they do require some thought and effort.

Here are some ways you can add personalized details within your vendor booth:

Shopping Bags

  • Brand them with your business name/logo
  • In colors/materials that match your branding
  • Add some little touches to the handle (ribbon, string, yarn, fabric, greenery, favorite quote or bible verse, etc.)

Price signs

Accurate and detailed product descriptions

  • On your product packaging (labels or hangtags)
  • Signage in your booth

Share your story

  • If you have a story of how your business came to be, share it with your customers! You can verbally share it or have it written out on a sign.

Mini décor items

  • Place small items throughout your booth that align with your product branding.

There you have it! You are now armed with three discrete, non-salesy ways to attract your ideal customer to your booth. Whether you need to raid your closet, go on a mini shopping adventure, revamp your display, or tweak a few mini details, you’ll be able to make some or all of those changes by your next market so you can start attracting more of your ideal customers.
