3 Things You'll Need to Sell at Your First Market

In this article, I will walk you through the 3 things you need to turn your ideas into reality.

1.  Your Skills

First, you need a skill or multiple skills you can use to create things with. My favorite handmade products are those where creators have mixed multiple skills to create unique items.  The sky is the limit here.  Take a sheet of paper or open a note in your phone to brainstorm a few skills that you have or want to learn.

2.  An Idea

Next, you’ll need an idea of a product or a few products you can make that customers will buy. Ideally, a product that solves a problem is best. Keeping this in mind ensures the product has a practical purpose, making people more likely to buy it.

3.  A Theme

Lastly, you’ll need an overall theme. Your product line, product branding, booth display, and setup should all fit into the theme.

All too often, I see makers with a hodge-podge of items, and while they have cool products and great skills, they miss out on sales when they don’t have a cohesive product line or booth.
